Originally, this was a design concept that we decided to test in our user testing sessions with various users, and it ended up being a winner. There were several explorations and iterations, but the main objective is to have a feature that enables two people to collaborate when finding a home.
This is the final version of the collaboration piece.
At the time, Trulia and Redfin launched their collaboration feature. We studied their pros and cons to refine our product.
One of the big challenges was to figure out all the use cases and then define our core as the first step. So I worked with my fellow UX Designer, Jingyu Wu to create a storyboard that aligned our vision with product strategy.
Since 73% of homebuyers search for their home as a couple, we decided to focus on collaboration between couples as the first step, and design core experience around it. Below is the user flow for the mvp design.
The design is to keep things simple. Once users invite their collaborator, all they need to do is keep adding their favorites. Then, every favorite property shared will be reflected in their profile.
