Aloha, I'm Chris Mitsuda!
I was born and raised in Southern California (Orange County), and moved to the bay area to attend the Academy of Art University, where I dabbled in gouache, sculpted with clay, but eventually found myself immersed in pixels. :) I graduated with a BFA in Computer Arts/New Media. I have 10+ years of design experience working for various companies with great teams. My approach is "Holistic Design" that encompasses UX, UI, Visual Design and Brand/Marketing Comm. My focus is creating memorable user experiences from all touch points (physical and digital), and a creating a consistent brand/user experience anywhere along the user's journey.
I love to problem solve, create "Blue Sky" concepts, but ultimately, keeping it simple and usable. Great design is a balance between form, function and feeling (emotion), with a good story that creates an emotional connection between the product and the user.
One of my memorable experiences was working on the Enterprise Product Team at Facebook, where I worked alongside a lot of talented designers, where I learned to move fast and be self-sufficient. Every designer is responsible for being pro-active and finding answers independently, by utilizing all resources at hand. Besides enhancing my skills as a Product Designer, Facebook enabled me to tap into other aspects of design. They had an amazing screen printing lab (Analog Research Lab) on campus, where I organized a team-building workshop.
When I'm taking a break from design, you can find me playing in the sand at Seacliff Beach with my family, flipping pancakes and attempting to ride some mountains on my bike. I also enjoy drinking coffee, while listening to "Coffee House" on Spotify (no pun, completely accidental) and just being outdoors doing the obvious... "outdoorsy stuff". I look forward to hearing from you!
